The Center for Professional and Leadership Development will be offering a half-day class on how to start your
own practice, which will include practical tips and information for the new
practitioner. This is a very useful course even if you do not intend to
start your own practice after graduation. Mr. Mark Johnson, who has
litigated legal malpractice claims and is a past President of the Washington
State Bar Association, will be presenting on ethical issues and risk
management. He will address common ethical problems which arise for
lawyers, and how to avoid potential legal malpractice. There will also be
speakers who will provide a practical checklist for the new practitioner and a
panel of solo practitioners who were successful in starting their own
practice. The course is open to all
students, LLMs, and alumni.
When: Thursday, December 5
12:30 – 5:15, followed by a reception
