Rural Alaska Tax Assistance Program 2011-12

Description: A tax assistance training program culminating in a ten day service trip in late February to remote Alaskan villages to provide tax advice, counseling, and preparation services to local residents and fisherman. As part of the training you will obtain the IRS's VITA tax preparation certification as well as additional subject specific endorsements. Participation requires a commitment of 4-6 hours per week in December, January, and February, and a willingness fly in bush planes, sleep on the floor (probably heated, but no promises), and prepare your own food on the ten day service trip to Alaska in in frigid February conditions.

DEADLINE: Applications are due by the end of the second week of school: Midnight, Friday October 7.
